Yoga In Schools

We have a dream to introduce yoga to as many children as possible, to help them cope with the stresses and strains of the modern day world.  Yoga not only helps children with co-ordination, balance and staying active it also teaches them vital skills to help reduce stress and increase focus. It  helps them switch off for a while from all the technology they are surrounded with.

But how do we implement this dream?  We train teachers to bring yoga into their schools.  Read how Emily discovered yoga for herself and decided to follow her passion and train to become a Children’s Yoga Teacher:

fullsizeoutput_6b4What brought you to Yoga?
Stress, I was 28 years old in my first Headship. I really enjoyed the challenges and successes of my post but quickly became overworked. Spinning many BIG plates! I was signed off due to stress after a couple of years and decided to resign from my post. I decided to take a more holistic route to rebuilding myself and was recommended to try Yoga. I began Yoga at Go Yoga and haven’t looked back!!! It’s changed my life and my body! I now believe you don’t need anything else!

How did you find your training?

My training was inspirational! I met some amazing people including the teachers, Helen and Sophie. I learnt so much about myself, children and yoga!

What difference has training made to your working life?
The training gave me the time to reflect on my current post as a Class Teacher and my current practice, I have been able to alter/adapt/improve mine and my colleagues attitudes, values and mindset. The training also helped me to manage my own thoughts, perspective and work/life balance.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of taking up teacher training at GoYoga?
Gain some experience of practising yoga before attending.

I came to yoga with a bad back and a full mind, lots of constant chatter, no different to anyone else... after 15 years of teaching... my mind still goes all monkey on me, the so called wild horses are still there... but I have it under control, I am aware of it..... my body has never felt so strong... yoga really solves so much...mind body and soul...
