Chakra Meditation for Balance

Here is a meditation to be used to balance your chakras. It can be used by yoga teachers and students to balance up the body!

Meditation for Chakras

Just lie down paying attention to your breath… turn your attention to the base of your spine and see at the base of your spine a red wheel of light, this is your muladhara chakra, it is connecting you to your home, your health, how settled you are….imagine a field of poppies….a little bit above the red chakra there is an orange just above your reproductive organs it represents your sexual energy and your creative energy, see a wheel of light burning here and try and balance them, balance the orange with the red now…see a beautiful marigold, now moving up to your solar plexus area, the space between the ribs and the tummy button, see a yellow wheel of light here, this is your happiness centre, follow that wheel of light round and see the sun burning within you, and now feel the connection of the green anahata chakra over your heart, feel your rib cage opening up, your shoulders softening and see a wheel of green light, the greenest grass, the colour of the Dales, smell freshly cut grass, and then gently coming to the throat, here is blue wheel of light just inside your throat, allow that blue wheel to soften your throat, you may have a sore throat, feel the blue light circling round and round the neck, a warm blue light, just to give yourself a little bit of healing… moving to the forehead, the blue light is how you talk, the forehead is how you connect with above, your psychic energy and intuition, feel the space between the eyebrows open up and feel yourself relaxing and see a wheel of violet light just between your eyebrows………..and then turn your attention to your space above your head and see a white light, your  connection to whatever you believe it could be, to God, the Universe or whatever, yoga is not a religion, you can apply it to your own religion, so see a white light above your head and feel the head opening, back of the neck opening and watch the breath, the whole mind and body is balanced and connected, the white light at the top of the head all the way down violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, red and just start to walk your way through these colours, feel the space and length that they bring, notice some maybe smaller, maybe weaker than others, maybe you need to pay attention to these areas,…….

follow your breath in and out..and start to watch your breath and try and lengthen the space between the breaths, inhaling pause, exhaling, almost feel as if you are not breathing or not needing to breathe, feeling so relaxed… once your attention is distracted just take your attention back to the breath…now plant your affirmation here… say your affirmation, your promise to yourself and your sankalpa, say it to yourself three times and make it present, really see yourself in the position you want to be…and then gently start to waken your body, slightly moving the chin from side to side, opening up the back of the neck, shoulders away from the ears, draw the fingers into the palms of the hands and wriggle the fingers and the toes and then stretch arms up overhead, rub the palms of the hands together and bring the hands over the face…. and gently look through the fingers and bring the knees in…and come up onto one side, coming up to sitting. Namaste.

I came to yoga with a bad back and a full mind, lots of constant chatter, no different to anyone else... after 15 years of teaching... my mind still goes all monkey on me, the so called wild horses are still there... but I have it under control, I am aware of it..... my body has never felt so strong... yoga really solves so much...mind body and soul...
